Installing the Memory Unit
CAUTION:
8 MB, 16 MB, and 32 MB memory
units are available for this printer.
Use the following types of memory
unit.

Faster than 60 ns
Important
❒
The memory unit can be damaged
by small amounts of static electric-
ity. Before touching it, touch some
metal to remove static electricity
from you.

This printer has two slots for
SIMMs.
❒
The memory unit using 64 bit
chips is not available.

Be sure to turn off the printer.

Pull out the first paper tray (Tray
1) and take the screwdriver (

)
from the tray. Each of the screws
that are to be removed requires
this screwdriver.
Note

Be sure to return the screwdriv-
er to the paper tray after using
it.

Remove the four screws, and then
remove the cover.
You need the screws to lock the
cover afterwards.

Before installing options, the ma-
chine should be turned off and
unplugged for at least thirty min-
utes. Components inside the
machine become very hot, and
can cause a burn injury if
touched.
•
Before moving the machine, un-
plug the power cord from the out-
let. If the cord is unplugged
abruptly, it could become dam-
aged. Damaged plugs or cords
can cause an electrical or fire
hazard.
•
When lifting the machine, use
the grips on both sides. The ma-
chine could break or cause an in-
jury if dropped.
