E-EQ-MX2RG-L-ARC MX2 Reference Guide
Operational Problems
This section lists solutions to problems that can occur with an RF unit.
The drivers won’t load, or the unit locks up when the drivers load.
Be sure the RangeLAN2 PC card is correctly installed in the radio card slot before turning the unit
on. Do not remove or insert any PC card while the MX2 is on.
The MX2 seems to lock up for four or five seconds after it is turned on.
Every time a MX2 is turned on, it must initialize the PC card. Wireless LAN PC cards commonly
take four or five seconds to initialize. After the card is initialized, the unit should function
normally.
The MX2 cannot communicate with a NetWare server.
The MX2 and the server may be using different frame types. Make sure that the frame type in
your NET.CFG file matches the server’s frame type.
The MX2 cannot communicate with another machine on the network.
The MX2 may not have the same domain and security ID as the other machine.
The MX2 does not shut down properly when I remove the PC card or take out the
batteries.
Do not remove a PC card or the batteries while the MX2 is on or immediately after turning it off.
When you turn the unit off, it suspends the RF driver, a process that can take one or two seconds.
If you remove the PC card or the batteries before the driver is suspended, the unit may be left in
an unstable state and may need to be reset.
The MX2 never turns itself off automatically, even when the time-out value is
correctly set.
The radio may be receiving broadcast messages from the access point. See “Power Management at
the RangeLAN2 Access Point”, for information on filtering messages.
