122 GL-1020 Operator’s Guide (Basic)
Short-edge feed works for Letter, A4, B5 and 16K. On the copier
these paper size are identified as Letter-R, A4-R, B5-R and 16K-
R respectively.
Because the feed orientation of the paper affects the stapling and
hole punch positions, you select the paper size and the controller
automatically selects the source cassette with the correct feed
orientation. You’ll notice that source changes to Auto Select.
Two occasions require you to define the paper source:
n The job requires the bypass feeder
n A cassette contains one of the paper sizes for a booklet, and
you have selected a booklet paper type.
The bypass feeder may be required if the size of the paper in the
in the cassette you select is not the same as the document size.
If the cassettes you select contain a paper size for short-edge feed,
stapling and hole punch positions may not be available or may be
incorrect.
Note: 8.5SQ is treated as short-edge feed even though both edges
are the same size.
If you select the bypass feeder as the paper source, the controller
ignores the paper size since the bypass feeder can handle all paper
sizes.
