Perform Calibration
This selection starts the automatic
process of calibration, and verification
if selected, of the MAX 5000XL when
the Temperature Calibration Interface
(TCI) is connected to the unit. A
detailed procedure begins on page 47.
The calibration uses an NIST traceable
device to measure the temperature at
the sample level and compare that to
the temperature measured by the
probe (temperature sensor) in the
heater. Any difference between the
two readings is then supplied to the
MAX 5000XL control circuits to adjust
heater current to provide the correct temperature. The verification process monitors
the corrected probe temperature and the TCI temperature, and reports as an error any
difference between the two. The systematic process is explained later in this section.
Perform Verification
The Perform Verification selection
allows a temperature verification to be
performed at any time, as long as the
TCI is connected to the unit.
