I. V-BELTS (REFER TO THE ILLUSTRATIONS IN SECTION F “PULLEYS”)
V-belts should have proper tension. If too loose, they will slip, excessive wear on the bearings will result. If the
pulleys are not properly aligned, excessive belt wear will result. Proper belt tension will allow 1/2” displacement
under normal thumb pressure at mid span of belt.
NOTE: Belts must always be replaced in pairs (matched sets).
V-Belt Tension Adjustment (Basket [Tumbler] to Idler)
1. Discontinue electrical power to the dryer.
2. Back off jam nuts on idler adjustment belts.
3. Tighten belts by turning both bolts evenly clockwise (CW). (Turn counterclockwise [CCW] to loosen
belts.)
4. Check vertical plane of idler pulley for parallel alignment with basket (tumbler) pulley.
5. If realignment is required, loosen basket (tumbler) pulley and bushing, and move basket (tumbler) pulley to
proper position.
6. Retighten jam nuts.
