Planning the installation
When planning the installation and choosing locations for the antenna and
receiver, consider the following points:
Receiver
Protect from extremes of temperature.
DO NOT place near an engine, or where fuel vapor
could be present.
DO NOT get it wet or put it where it can be
splashed with water.
DO NOT put it where it can be kicked or trodden
on.
You should also choose the installation site so that the power cable can be
easily removed.
Antenna
Make sure the antenna
has a clear view of the
sky. Height is not
important. Make sure
nearby objects do not
block the antenna’s
view of the sky.
Make sure that the
antenna is installed on
a flat not curved
surface.
If your boat has radar,
make sure that the
antenna is mounted
above or below the
radar scanner, but not
in the radar beam.
DO NOT install the
antenna where it can
be kicked or trodden
on.
You should also make sure that the installation site has easy access from
below in an area which is clear of cables and other obstructions.
