CAUTION: Never use str aight gasoline i n
your unit. This will cause permanent engine
dama ge and void the limit ed warranty . Do not
use alternate fuels su ch as ethanol blends
above 10% by volume (E-15, E- 85) or any
methanol blended fuel. Use of these f uels can
cause major engine perf ormance and durability
problems.
BAR AND CHAIN LUBRICATION
The bar an d chain r equire lubrica tion. The chain
oiler provi des continu ous lubricationto the chain
and guide ba r . Be sure to f ill the b ar oil tank
when you fill the fuel tank (Capacit y = 4. 6 fl.oz.).
Lack of o il will quickly ruin the bar and chain.
Too little o il will cause overheating shown by
smoke coming fro m the chain and/or discolor-
ation of the bar . The oil output is autom atically
metered during operat ion. Always fill the bar oil
tank when yo u fill the fuel tank.
Genuine Poulan or Poulan PRO bar and
chain oil is recommended to protect your unit
against excessive w ear from heat and fric-
tion. Poulan or Poulan PRO oil resists high
temperature thinning. If Poulan or Poulan
PRO bar and chain oilis not available, use a
good grade SAE 3 0 oil.
S Never use waste oil for bar and chain
lubrication.
S Always stop the engine before removing
the oil cap.
HOW TO STOP YOUR UNIT
S Release the throttle trigger.
S Push and release the engine ON/S TOP
switch. T he switch will automatically return
to the ON position. Wait 5 seconds before
attempting to restart unit to allow switch to
reset.

WARNING: Make sure the chain will
not make contact with any object while start-
ing the engine.Never try tostar tthe unitwhen
the guide bar is in a cut. Avoid any contact
with the muffler. A hot muffler can cause seri-
ous burns.

STARTINGACOLDENGINE
NOTE:

until the engine has started and runs.
1. Set unit on a flat surface.
2. Slowly press the primer bulb 6 times.
3. Move the start lever to the START posi-
tion.

4. Pull starter rope handle sharply until en-
gine starts and runs.
5. Allow unit to run for 1 0--1 5 seconds, then
fully squeeze the thrott le t rigger to disen-
gage the starting system.
STARTING A WARM ENGINE
1. Squeeze and hold the throttle t rigger.
2. Pull star ter rope sharply whilesqueezing
throttle trigger until engine runs.
NOTE: Normally, the warm starting proce-
dure can be used within 5--10 minutes after
the unit is turned off. If the unit sits for more
than 10 minutes without being ran, it will be
necessary to star t the unit by following the
steps under STAR TING A COLD ENGI NE or
following the starting instruction steps shown
on the unit.
STARTING A FLOODED ENGINE
Flooded engines can be started by placing
the start lever to the RU N position. Fully
squeeze throttle trigger . Pull the star ter han-
dle r ep eatedly w hilesqueezingthrottletrigger
until engine star ts and runs. This could re-
quire pulling the starter handle many times,
depending on how badly the unit is flooded.
