The 8-port adapter has a 10-position switch block that selects configuration options for the adapter. The
option switches are preset during manufacture to the following values.
If your installation requires settings different than the preset values, perform each of the following.
“Setting the Bus Width”
“Setting the ISA Connector Type” on page 2-6
“Setting the Base I/O Address” on page 2-6
“Setting the Interrupt Level” on page 2-8
Setting the Bus Width: Switch 10 (BW) sets the width of the data bus. If the adapter is in an 8-bit
ISA slot (single-edge connector), the switch must be set to an 8-bit data bus. If the adapter is in a 16-bit
slot, the switch can be set to an 8-bit or 16-bit data bus.
Note: All IBM ARTIC adapters in a system must be set to the same width.
