Chapter 2. Installation and Requirements
This chapter lists the hardware and software/microcode requirements and provides information for
configuring and installing the 8-port adapter.
Installation Requirements
The 8-port adapter requires the following hardware, software, and microcode.
Hardware
A full-length ISA slot
Note: The FCC classification for this adapter might be different than the one of your system. After
installing the adapter, use the FCC classification of the adapter as your system classification.
One of the following interface cables or an equivalent (see Chapter 4, “Cables and Connectors” for a
description of the cables):
– 8-Port Direct Modem Attach Cable
– Multiport Interface Cable
Hardware Tools
Medium-size flat-blade screwdriver
Optional:
– Medium screwstarter
– 3/16-inch nutdriver
– 1/4-inch nutdriver
Software/Microcode

| The control program for the 8-port adapter is loaded into RAM on the adapter. The control program is part
| of the realtime control microcode that can be downloaded from the Web. For downloading instructions,
