Selecting a cycle and time
This section illustrates and describes the
wash cycles you can select with the Cycle
Selector Knob. Use this information to help
you make the best cycle selections for your
wash loads. Each cycle is designed for
different types of fabrics and soil levels.
The cycle descriptions which follow apply to
both models, except where noted.

Refer to page 11 to help you understand
what happens during a wash cycle.
Depending on your model, your washer
may have either five or seven cycles.
‘I-cycle model
Cottons Cycle
The Cottons cycle features high agitation
and longer spin speeds to shorten drying
time.
l
On the 7-cycle model, select 10 or 14
minutes of wash time to clean cotton and
linen fabrics that are moderately to heavily
soiled.
l
On the 5-cycle model, use 10 minutes of
wash time.
Permanent Press Cycle
The Permanent Press cycle features low
spin speeds to reduce wrinkling.
l
On the 7-cycle model, use 6 or 10 minutes
of wash time to clean permanent press
and some synthetic fabrics that are lightly
to moderately soiled.

On the 5cycle model, use 10 minutes of
wash time.
Knits/Gentle Cycle
The Knits/Gentle cycle features a reduced
agitation speed for gentle soil removal, and
low spin speed to reduce wrinkling.
l
Use 8 minutes of wash time to clean
delicate items and washable knits that are
lightly to moderately soiled.
Soak Cycle
The Soak cycle features brief periods of
agitation and soak time. Use this 30-minute
cycle to remove heavy soils and stains that
need pretreatment.
l
Use warm water when soaking laundry.
(Hot water can set stains.) See pages
18-20 for stain removal information.

Use the amount of detergent or presoak
additive recommended by manufacturer.
l
The Soak cycle should always be followed
by a wash cycle.
