SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS
TO REPLACE MOWER BLADE DRIVE BELT
(See Fig. 23)
The mower blade drive belt may be replaced without tools.
Park the tractor on level surface. Engage parking brake.
BELT REMOVAL -
Remove mower from tractor (See "TO REMOVE
MOWER" in this section of manual).
Work belt off both mandrel pulleys and idler pulleys.
Pull belt away from mower.
BELT INSTALLATION -
Work belt around both mandrel pulleys and idler pulleys.
Make sure belt is in all pulley grooves and inside all belt
guides.
Install mower (See "To Install Mower" in this section of
manual).

TO ADJUST BRAKE (See Fig. 24)
Your tractor is equipped with an adjustable brake system
which is mounted on the side of the transaxle.
Iftractor requires more than six (6) feet stoppingdistance at
highspeed in highest gear ona level dryconcrete or paved
surface, then brake must be adjusted.
Depressclutch/brake pedal and engage parkingbrake.
Measure distance between brake operating armand nut
"A" on brake rod.
Ifdistance isotherthan 1-9/16", loosenjam nutand turn
nut "A" untildistance becomes 1-9/16". Retighten jam
nut against nut "A".
Road test tractorfor preper stopping distance as stated
above. Readjust if necessary. If stopping distance is
still greater than six (6) feet in highest gear, further
maintenance is necessary. Contact your nearest au-
thorized service center/department.

TO REPLACE MOTION DRIVE BELT

Parkthetractoron levelsurface. Engage parkingbrake. For
assistance, there isa beltinstallationguide decal on bottom
side of leftfootrest.
BELT REMOVAL -
Remove mower (See "TO REMOVE MOWER" in this
section of manual).
NOTE: Observe entire motiondrive belt and positionofall
belt guides and keepers.
Remove belt from stationary idler and clutching idler.
Remove beltdownward from around engine pulley.
Pull belt slacktoward rearoftractor. Carefully remove
belt upwards from transmission input pulley and over
cooling fan blades.
Removebeltfromcenterspankeeperandpullbeltaway
from tractor.
BELT INSTALLATION -
Carefully work new belt down around transmission
cooling fan and ontothe input pulley.
Slide belt intothe center span keeper.
Pull belt toward front of tractor and rollaround thetop
groove ofengine pulley.
Install belt through stationary idler and clutchingidler.
Make sure belt isinall pulley groovesand inside all belt
guides and keepers.
Install mower (See "TO INSTALL MOWER" in this
section ofmanual).
