MOWER BLADES -
To stop mower blades, moveattachment clutch leverto
=DISENGAGED" pos_t_on.
GROUND DRIVE-
• To stop ground drive, depress clutch/brake pedal mto
full "BRAKE" posttton.
• Move motion control lever to neutral (N) poslbon.
IMPORTANT: THE MOTION CONTROL LEVER DOES
NOT RETURN TO NEUTRAL (N) POSITION WHEN THE
CLUTCH/BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED
ENGINE -
• Move throttlecontrol to slow posttton.
NOTE: Fadure to move throttle control to slow position and
allowing engme toidlebefore stoppmg may cause engine to
"backfire".
Turn ignition key to "OFF" posztion and remove key.
Always remove key when leavmg tractor to prevent
unauthonzed use
Never use choke to stop engine.
IMPORTANT: LEAVING THE IGNITION SWITCH IN ANY
POSITION OTHER THAN "OFF" WILL CAUSE THE
BATTERY TO BE DISCHARGED, (DEAD).
NOTE: Under cerfam conditions when tractor tsstanding idle
wtth the engine running, hot engine exhaust gases may
cause "browning" of grass. To eliminate this possibility,
always stop engine when stoppmg tractor on grass areas.
_1) AUTION: Always stop tractor com- I
pletely, as descri_ above, before leav-
ing the operator s position; to empty
grass catcher, etc.
TO USE THRO'n'LE CONTROL (See Fig. 6)
Always operate engine at fullthrottle.
• Operating engine at less than fullthrottle reduces the
bafterycharglng rate.
Full throttle offers the bestbagging and mower perfor-
mance.
TO USE CHOKE CONTROL (See Fig. 6)
Use choke control whenever you are starting a cold engine.
Do not use to start a warm engine.
To engage choke control, pull knob out. Slowly push
knob rnto disengage
TO MOVE FORWARD AND BACKWARD (See
Fig. 6)
The direction and speed of movement tscontrolled by the
motren control lever.
Start tractor wtth motion control lever m neutral (N)
positron
• Release parkingbrake.
Slowly move motion control lever todesired posibon.
TO ADJUST MOWER CUTTING HEIGHT (See
Fig. 6)
The cutting height iscontrolled bytummgthe he_ghtadjust-
ment knob mdestred dLrection.
• Turn knobclockwise (F'_ ) to raise cutting height.
• Turn knob counterclockwise (I,_) to lower cutting
height.
The cutting height range is approximately 1-1/2" to 4". The
heights are measured from the ground tothe blade tip wtth
the engine notrunning. These hetghtsare approximate and
may vary dependmg upon soil conditions, height of grass
and types of grass being mowed.
• The average lawnshould be cuttoapproximately 2-1/2
inches during the cool season and to over 3 inches
during hot months. For healthier and better looking
lawns, mowoften and after moderate growth
