Pump Strainer Basket
Thestrainer,sometimesreferredtoasthe“HairandLintPot,”isinfrontoftheofthepump.Inside
thereisabasketwhichmustbekeptcleanofleavesanddebrisatalltimes.Viewthebasketthrough
thetopseethroughlidtoinspectforleavesanddebris.
Regardlessofthelengthoftimebetweenltercleaning,itismostimportanttovisuallyinspectthehairandlint
potbasketatleastonceaweek.Adirtybasketwillreducetheefciencyofthelterandpossiblytheheater.
WARNING — DO NOT open the strainer pot if pump fails to prime or if pump has been operating
without water in the strainer pot. Pumps operated in these circumstances may experience
a build up of vapor pressure and may contain scalding hot water. Opening the pump may
cause serious personal injury. In order to avoid the possibility of personal injury, make
sure the suction and discharge valves are open and that the strainer pot is cool to the
touch, then open with extreme caution.
CAUTION — To prevent damage to the pump and lter and for proper operation of the system, clean
pump strainer and skimmer baskets regularly.

pumpisinstalledbelowthewaterlevelofthe
pool,closethereturnandsuctionlinesbeforeopeningthehair
andlintpotonthepump.
1. PresstheStopbuttontostopthepumpandswitchoffthe
pumpatthecircuitbreaker.
2. Relievepressureinthesystem.
3. Turntheclampandlidinacounterclockwisedirectionuntil
itstops.
4. Removetheclampandlid.
5. Removethebasketandputthedebrisintothetrashandrinse
outthebasket.Ifthebasketiscracked,replacethebasket.
6. Replacethebasketandllthepumppotandvolutewith
wateruptotheinletport.
7. Cleanthecover,o-ring,andsealingsurfaceofthepumppot.
Greasetheo-ringwithTeonorsiliconelubricant.
8. Reinstallthelidbyplacingtheclampandthelidonthepot.
