Caring for your washer
To keep your washer looking like new:
l Wipe up detergent, bleach or other spills with
a soft, damp cloth as they occur.
l Sharp or heavy objects should not be put on
or in the washer. Check pockets for bolts,
nuts, etc.
l If the washer interior needs cleaning, put 1
cup (250 mL) of chlorine bleach and 2 cups
(500 mL) of detergent in the washer. Run
through a complete cycle using hot water.
l When removing hard water deposits, use
only cleaners labeled as being washer safe.
l After tinting or dyeing, put chlorine bleach
and detergent in the washer. Run through a
complete cycle using hot water to remove
excess dye or tint. If staining occurs on
following loads, repeat the process.
Saving energy
l Use hot water only when washing heavy,
greasy soils or whites.
@ Use cold rinses.
l Wash full loads.
. Use lower water levels when washing small
loads.
l Avoid rewashing. Use enough detergent;
pretreat stains or heavy soils; do not over-
load; use the cycles and wash times recom-
mended for the fabric and soil; sort properly.
l Use your washer during off-peak hours-
usually early morning and late evening. (Ask
your power company.)
