Insufficientdetergent. Youmayneedto increaseamountofdetergentusedif
load is larger than normal,if soilsare oily or heavierthan average,if water
levelis large or if wateris Hard to Extremely Hard.
Waternot hot enoughfor~pe of load. Be surewaterheateris set to deliver
hot water at the washer at 140~150‘F. Do not wash when other hot water
needs—suchasdishwashingor familybaths—areheavy.
Poor or inferiordetergent. Changetophosphatedetergent, ifpossibie. Follow
these steps:
1. Use water conditioner,(suchas Calgonbrand)
2. Pre-treat stains
3. Use hottestwaterpossible
4. Use bleach where possible
5. Use pre-soak aids
6. Install watersoftener
Washeroverloaded. Clothescannotmovefreely toloosen andremovesoil,
causinggray appearance. Followcorrect loadingprocedures for sizeof load.
hproper soting with insufficientdetergent. Usually a 30-minutesoakis
sufficient. However,when using extendedsoaksforheavilysoiled garments
youmay need to use twice the recommended amountof detergent.
Use of soap in hard water. Switch to a phosphatedetergent, or followsix steps
described above.
Washingtoo long may result in increased soildeposition. Use shorter wash
times for smaller loads.
Detergent dissolves too slowly.Detergent mustbe present in the wash solution
at the start of agitation. Seepage 18.
Torestore grayed clothes, followone of these procedures:
1. Put clothes in washer. Fill with H~ water. Check Manufacturers’Care
Labels to determine if hot water is suitable for garment.
@Add a non-precipitatingtype ofwater sofienersuch as Calgon with
phosphate—use2IAtimes as much as you need for normal water
softening.
@Do not use detergent or soap.
@Allow clothes to go through complete cycle.
~ Repeat, if necessary.
If you prefer to use the Soak Setting, see page 6. Use the water softenerin
place of soak agent or prewash detergent and allowclothes to soak for about
2.0mil]utes.
