Parental Lock
Creating a Password
You can use the Parental Lock feature to control what types of movies your family watches. When Parental
Lock is on, a password is required to watch movies with certain ratings (you can set which ratings require a
password).
When you use your HD DVD player for the first time, enter a 4-digit password using the number buttons and
press OK. If you make a mistake, press the CLEAR button before pressing OK.
Changing the Password
To change the password:
1. At the Parental Lock menu, press the STOP button 4 times, then press OK. The password is cleared.
2. Enter a new 4-digit password by using the number buttons.
3. Press OK.
Setting Parental Lock
1. Select On or Off by pressing the up/down arrow buttons. Press the right arrow
button to move to the Area Code field.
2. Press the up/down arrow buttons to enter the code of a country/area whose
standards were used to rate a disc (see country list on the left). Press the right
arrow button to move to the Level field.
3. Select the desired rating level by pressing the up/down arrow buttons.
The ratings for the US are as follows:
Level 1 : G
Level 3 : PG
Level 4 : PG13
Level 6 : R
Level 7 : NC-17
4. Select “OK” then press OK button.
When Parental Lock is turned on, a disc that has a higher rating level than your
selected rating level cannot be played back. For example, if you select level 7, discs
exceeding level 8 are locked and cannot be played back.
Changing the Parental Lock Rating Level
To change the rating level of the Parental Lock function, follow steps 1 - 3 above.
