Operating instructions
Warning: it is essential to release the device in the case of a fall.
This device is not designed to hold severe falls. Do not use a lanyard
between the harness and the rope clamp. The rope between the rope
clamp and the anchor must always be under tension.
The use of the device for self belaying is limited. For maximum safety
on icy or dirty rope, use the BASIC B18 or the ASCENSION B17.
Diameter of the rope:
These rope clamps are for use on single kernmantel rope (dynamic
UIAA, semi-static or static) from 12 to 19 mm conforming to the EN
and UIAA standards.
Energy absorption by the rope:
Do not forget that energy is absorbed by the rope in the event of a
fall. The nearer you get to the anchor point the nearer the shock-load
absorption capacity approaches to zero.
Placing the device on the rope
1 - Pull the spring-loaded pin.
2 - Take the spindle out of the cam.
3 - Remove the cam from the body of the device.
4 - Place the rope in the groove in the device. The
arrow engraved on the device should point to the anchor.
5 - Replace the cam.
6 - Replace the spindle into the cam.
7 - Put the spring-loaded pin back in place.
8 - Place a screwgate carabiner into the hole of the cam to join
the device to your harness.
9 - Check by pulling on the carabiner that the device
jams in the desired direction.
10 - For safety, tie a knot in the free end of the rope.
Safety instructions
- Guard against anything which could block the action of the cam.
(pebbles, twigs...).

Lifetime
It is known that equipment deteriorates progressively with use. It is difficult to give a
precise lifetime because it depends on the environment where it is used (mountains,
sea, cave, canyon, sand etc). However wear or damage could occur on the first use
which limits its life to that use. Surface damage, corrosive wear, mechanical wear, or
impairment of the mechanical function of the product is easily observed. In addition
to the checks before and after each use, a detailed inspection must be carried out by
a competent person every 12 months. For more security and better control of your
equipment, we advise you to keep an inspection record for each product or batch of
products (record sheet herewith).
Temperature
Use this product above a minimum of -40° C and below a maximum of +80° C.
Petzl 3 year guarantee

manufacture. Limitations of the guarantee : normal wear and tear, modifications or
alterations and bad storage. Equally excluded from the guarantee are damage due to
accidents, to negligence, and uses for which the product was not designed.
Note : Canyoning and caving increase the rate of wear considerably.
