POSSIBLE CAUSE
0Incorrectsortingof clothes.Separatelint producers (such as terry towels and chenille)
from lintreceivers (such as man made fabrics, velveteen,corduroy).

pound of dry clothes.
oUse of non-phosphatedetergentswhich combine with hardness minerals to form a
precipitatewhich can be mistaken for lint. Use a phosphateor liquid detergent;use
warmer wash water or soften water with an installed mechanical softeneror a packaged
water softener.
~Powdery residue from granulardetergentmay appear to be lint. Predissolve granular
detergentin hot water before addingto washer; make sure detergentis completely
dissolvedbefore adding clothes;switch to liquid or cold water detergentor warmer
wash water. See Detergent Guide.
*Overloadingwill cause abrasion which creates excessive lint. Wash fewer items with
correct water level.

These are sometimes called “InvisibleStains”becauseyou may not noticethembefore
washing clothes. However, if oily soils are not completely removed in wash cycle, the
oily spotsmay pick up dirt from thewash water.The spotswillthen be vely visible.T’hey
are }zotcaused by the washer.Wash syntheticgarments as soon as possibleafter we~aring.
Use more detergentthan normal and hottestwater fabric can stand. If spots appear, rub in
undilutedliquiddetergent,let stand 30 minutesand rewash with extra dete~gentusing
