Regularlyinspectthe exhaustduct to be sure it has
not been crushedor otherwiserestricted.
Donotuseheattodryarticlescontainingrubber,
plastic,or similarmaterials
(such as paddedbras,
tennis shoes,galoshes,bath mats, rugs, bibs, baby
pants, plasticbags, etc.) as these materialsmay
melt or burn. Also, some rubbermaterials,when
heated,can undercertain circumstancesproduce
fire by spontaneouscombustion.
Do not store items that may burn or melt (such
as clothing,paper material,plasticsor plastic
containers,etc.) on top of the dryer during
the operation.
Garmentslabeled“Dry AwayfromHeat” (such
as lifejackets containingKapok)mustnot be
put in your dryer.
Donot washor dry articlesthat havebeen
cleanedin, washedin,soakedin,or spotted
withcombustibleor explosivesubstances(such
as wax,paint, gasoline,degreasers,dry-cleaning
solvents,kerosene,etc.)whichmayigniteor
explode.Donot add thesesubstancesto the
washwater.Donot usethesesubstancesaround
your washerantior dryer during operation.
DONOTplaceitemsexposedto cookingoils in
yourdryer.Itemscontaminatedwithcookingoils
maycontributeto a chemicalreactionthatcould
causea clothesloadto catchfire.
Any articleon which you haveused a cleaning
solvent,or which containsflammablematerials
(such as cleaningcloths,mops, towels used in
beauty salons,restaurantsor barber shops, etc.)
must not be placed in or near the dryer untilall
traces of these flammableliquidsor solidsand
their fumes havebeen removed.There are many
highlytlamrnableitemsused in homessuch as:
acetone,denaturedalcohol,gasoline,kerosene,
some householdcleaners,some spot removers,
tu~entines, waxes, wax removersand products
containingpetroleumdistillates.
Keepthe area around and underneathyour
appliancesfreefrom the accumulationof
combustiblematerials,
such as lint, paper,rags,
chemicals,etc.
The interior ofthe machineand the exhaust
duct connectioninsidethe drver shouldbe
cleanedperiodicallyby a qualifiedindividual.
The laundryprocesscan reducethe flame
retardancyoffabrics.
To avoid such a result,
garmentmanufacturer’scare instructionsshouldbe
followedvery carefully.
