3. Select a slot for the adapter:
If you are installing a graphics adapter, refer to the
PCI Adapter Placement
Reference
to choose the appropriate slot to install your graphics adapter. Some
graphics adapters occupy two slot spaces when installed. You may have to
relocate an existing adapter. If you do, refer to “Removing Adapters” on
page 4-80. For other adapters, refer to Appendix B, “Adapter Placement Notes”
on page B-1 for placement requirements.
Attention: Failure to install your graphics adapter in the correct slot may result
in your adapter, or your system unit not functioning correctly.
If you have a Model 140, your system unit has the following slots:
Slot 1: 32-bit, 5-volt, PCI short card (primary)
Slot 2: 32-bit, 5-volt, ISA or PCI (primary)
Slot 3: 32-bit, 5-volt, ISA or PCI (secondary)
Slot 4: 32-bit, 5-volt, PCI (secondary)
Slot 5: 32-bit, 5-volt, PCI short card (secondary)
Note: Slot 1 can accommodate a long PCI card if DIMMs taller than 2.5cm (1
inch), such as 64MB or 128MB, are not installed.
