How do you clean the filters in this washing machi...

How do you clean the filters in this washing machine? There is a bad smell coming from it. The filter at the bottom right hand corner of the machine comes out and we scrub it every so offten but if you feel inside the whole there, you can feel gunk that has built up. How do you clean this?
