We have a 16 year old whirlpool super capacity, two speed washer. I am not sure if it is my imagination or not, but it appears that the top part of the agitator system does not agitate as it once did. The lower part of the agitator does still work. Does the top half of the agitator system supposed to move rapidly or just passively? If it is supposed to move rapidly is this an expensive proposition to have fixed or is it best to just get a new machine since this unit is 16 years old.
