5 Hello James, Checking the start button would be a good place to start, but I would recommend jumping the wires to see if the dryer will then start. If it does, then you would know it's the start button. Another thing to try is to advance the timer to see if it will start on any other setting, the fault could lie in the timer. But, the wiring in a dryer is complex to the various components, starting from the terminal block to the timer control, to the selector switch, the motor, the elements, the thermal fuses, etc. Got the idea? The red light will at least show you have some power. But, it would be a good idea to check all wiring and connections. One wire alone that has separated could prevent the dryer from starting. But, last but not least, do you hear anything at all, like a motor coming on, but drum not turning? It may just be that the belt has broken. And, the last, the motor has failed. But, you should definitely check all wiring for any burnt connections or wires that have come loose.
