i have a 40 yr. old sears wrinkle guard dryer. Wh...

i have a 40 yr. old sears wrinkle guard dryer. When i removed the lint filter i dropped a 1 inch square of paper (+/-) in the slot where the filter screen goes. Is it safe to use this dryer? It seems that the space holding the filter extends well below the screen, thank you. R hinkley 908 2511073 or 908 757 4712
