My Steamglide Iron bleeped continuously (with a smell of something being hot)! I switched it off and de-scaled it. and left it for a few minutes. All the power lights are now working as normal but the iron is not getting hot. I have had it for a while, but it is used very infrequently, so I do hope that it is a solvable problem.
