Every time I switch my dryer on, it blows both the circuit breaker and the fuse box. most of my appliances around my flat are knocked out. I have cleaned the box filter and dried it carefully before replacing it, but it still happens.

0 It is most likely the heater element (I have the same problem) this link may help but requires you to remove the top and right hand side casing and access the heater so if you are not that confident probably best get some help. I have also had a free estimate who confirmed its not uncommon for these dryers to get dampness in the heater element and this causes the trip. Drying the heating element THOROUGHLY should fix it (even if it does not look damp to the naked eye). Other than that you will need the heater element replaced (about £35 for a second hand one or about £65 for a new one). if you need a new one you can order direct from the Hotpoint website. Here's the link anyway: http://www.justanswer.com/uk-appliance/6a0or-hotpoint-condenser-dryer-tcm-570-dead-trips-electric.html
