0 How to open the lower cabinet...Unplug unit!.Open the upper cabinet doors and remove the 4 screws (aprox. 2" long) at the inside bottom facing outward which hold the control faceplate on...once screws out, faceplate comes off forward with a pull...take pix of where wires are attached and remove them. Lay faceplate carefully in top chamber.(Enclosed behind faceplate is diagram layout of machine including electrical). Should now be able to visualize 4 small screws at the top holding the front lower panel on. So do two long screws on either side at top. Once out (put them somewhere for safe keeping) carefully lift panel upward and off the two clips at the bottom on either side & front panel with doors should easily come of(again, check for wiring - take pix to remember for reassembly and remove as needed) Remove slowly so not to damage wiring harness on left side. Two screws inside the front door hold the lint panel on-when removed, lint trap below lint screen can be cleaned. Dryer drum is now available for removal, but only after loosening screws at top on each side panel & loosening belt (note how belt fits/works before removal of drum)...drum will pull out, but scrapes drum's exterior as it does & going back in as well. You can now get to most of Dryer's components for replacement. If lower drying unit failed to heat but upper one did, 95% chance problem with heating element (two elements are in the unit...seems one can burn out but other will still heat, misleading the diagnosis of the problem, so check this unit first). A replacement unit is no longer available - however, if you are handy, a re-stringing unit is available @ Angel Obsolete Parts - 877-835-6030. Ask for John their Technical Advisor who can help you with pretty much anything, if it's still available. Also, note, ribbed side of drum belt goes toward the drum while pulley roller rolls on the other/flat side of the belt. I'd try using a light & mirror & contortions to locate where idler spring/pulley go before removing drum to get at it's location. Best of luck/success to all trying to preserve this unit!!! Note: For clarification - heating of the upper chamber of unit may still occur due to the dual heating elements within the heating element module (located on the rear panel wall - it's a small rectangular box) but the lower chamber's element is usually the one that's burn out. To replace the faulty unit requires one remove the dryers drum & belt to be able to reach the heating module without contortions or injury. Again, remember to take pix's so as to know where to return all the wiring...and above all else, MAKE SURE UNIT IS UNPLUGGED BEFORE ATTEMPTING REPAIRS!!! Mike
