I have a top loading LG WT5001CW Washer. For a few weeks now, it has been grinding and squealing whenever it turns. I tightened the bolt at the bottom of the washer and when I spin the rotor from the bottom with my hand, I can feel where the metal is scraping against the rotor. I took off the rotor and stator and all the splines appear fine. However, the shaft that holds the rotor on appears to have quite a bit of play in it. Is this normal? If not, does that meant the motor or motor bearings are broken? If so, it would be under warranty. Or would this be the tub bearings?
