0 The "top" does not come up. You have to use a wide putty knife under each front corner of the console. There is a metal clip you must push on then lift that corner of the console. After you have the console flipped up and back, there are two wavy metal clips that hold the cabinet to the back. Use a large straight blade screwdriver to hook the end that hooks into the top of the cabinet and push back and up. This will release the clips. Unplug the lid switch. Grab the sides of the cabinet toward the rear and pull toward you. The cabinet will pivot up in the rear. Lift it several inches then pull it toward you.
