My washing machine has finished the washing but in...

My washing machine has finished the washing but instead of "end" flashing in the pannel i have "DOOR" - The door won't open,m so i switched it off at the mains, then it opened but now it will not start as the word "door" is flashing in the screen ? any suggestions ( i have the manual but does not say what the fault would be .......
