Is there any advice on how to re-insert the transit bolts which I removed when the machine was new

0 From the head, the bolt should have a metal washer, the rubber grommet (thick portion towards the head), then the plastic spacer. slide all three down to the tip of the bolt. look in the transit holes, and notice the receptacle for the bolt opposite the thin end of the hole. Insert the bolt until the rubber grommet is halfway through (at the step)slide the bolt inwards, with the frame sitting over the grommet. push the bolt through so that it engages to the receptacle, then turn the bolt until tight.
