Question About Hotpoint Washer/Dryer WDF 760 P/G/A/K

There is supplied a short branched hot/cold filler pipe - can the hot fill point on the back of the machine be capped off, and only the cold fill point be used? My old cold fill pipe is longer and I need to use it to reach the cold supply. Thanks
