Question About Hotpoint Washer WM56
Knocking on spin and now tripping electricity on starting...

Hotpoint WM56 Washing Machine. In the last week or so it has started knocking or banging during the spin cycle but was otherwise running correctly. Today though, when it starts the cycle, it trips the mains circuit. Er have tried another socket but to no avail. Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks, Paul

0 I have taken the washer apart. I can't see any obvious damage to the electrics and the interlock on the door seems reasonably clean and dry. I did notice that there is a small amount of water accumulated at the bottom of the chassis at the front dead centre. The seal was replaced moderately recently (last year or so) and looks okay though it is very slightly deformed near the door lock.
