Hotpoint WML 540 - my machine won't operate. When...

Hotpoint WML 540 - my machine won't operate. When I try to turn on it makes about 5 or 6 clicks and nothing happens. Any ideas?

1 In fact no need to respond further (at least for my benefit). I found a suggestion elsewhere to turn off at the mains for *15* minutes - had tried 5 but the longer period seems to have resolved my problem - obviously therefore different from yours. Hope this helps anyone else that may have a similar problem. Thanks,

0 Hi sergeantino, I wondered if you had any success in resolving this? I've just got the exact same problem developed. Already have the manual anyway but the troubleshooting section doesn't really cover this.

0 I had yo get an engineer in to repair the machine. The brushes were done and had to be replaced.

0 Hey thanks for the quick response. Not sure though if this is the same problem - the clicking sound on mine sounds like it comes from behind the control panel & is like the sound it makes when it starts normally (although not so many clicks I think) - does this match? If you don't mind saying, how much did your repair cost?
