Question About Hotpoint Clothes Dryer CTD00
Dryer problem...

Everytime I plug in my dryer and press start it cuts off the electric, its been fine since we got it. Although I did leave a full load of wet clothes in and didnt switch it on till the next day would this have an effect and what can I do ??

5 I have just fixed this on mine, it may be the same, Turn the machine round, there is a large panel with screws round it, and a small cover with 2 screws, remove all the screws and both covers, in side you should find the heater element and a fan at the bottom, the cover will remain attached to the machine by wires . the fan may be blowing water up onto the heater element , which trips the mains, if you have water around the fan in side, you have a blockage to the water trap , there is a square box bit to the right of the fan on the back of machine, the top half comes off it is on clips, it is fairly hard to remove, in side this there is a small vent, that the water gets into this tray, from bottom left this gets blocked and floods the fan . no water must get to the fan . i have solved the tripping but my heater has blown as well.

0 It's Christmas Eve and our tumble dryer started tripping the mains. Knowing that if anyone would come out for a couple of weeks it would cost an arm and a leg, I found this article. Half an hour later, working fine. Many thanks. I did find that to clear the vent, a bit of prodding with a cotton bud helped, I knew it was cleared when water gushed through. Will clean the condensor unit more often from now on.
