spin cycle on front loader has become noisy, along...

spin cycle on front loader has become noisy, along with greasy looking black mud left on laundry at end of cycle. i opened the back of the washer only to see this mud/grease stuff on the back of the tub-between the pulley and the tub. i want to know if the bearing could be leaking this stuff. thanks so much for any help or suggestions, jo.
