Will transporting admiral washer on its side cause...

Will transporting admiral washer on its side cause it to leak when used again? I sold my working washer and the people laid it on its side for a 1 hour drive. When they used it it leaks. They had a repair man look at it and said it couldn't happen in their move. Help please.
